Music is so transcendent because it elicits the vibration in which it was created through source energy every time it is played. I used to feel sad when I reflected on the music of past generations that spoke so much more resonantly and more deeply to me than most contemporary music. Then I realized that it speaks to me so deeply because the magic and potency of it is still alive and well. Though time has transpired, the vibrations are still there – the alchemy of tones, frequencies, tunings, combinations of instruments and lyrics are more sustainable and impactful than time itself. It gives me hope to know that the spirit of song lives on – that such a subtle, ephemeral art can be so strong and invincible. The authentic expression of the soul is timeless.

Let’s just pretend that I didn’t do a teeny, tiny, little mini jump into this press handstand.
Let’s just pretend that I effortlessly floated into it with ease and grace.
Let’s just pretend that just because I have done this transition before and even though it’s on the list of tricky tricks I can supposedly do, that it happens for me every day.

Unfortunately it doesn’t. Some days I suck, some days I don’t. Who even knows why?!
This is actually the first time I’ve tried to press handstand in about two weeks because I failed so many times I got annoyed and gave up trying. (There’s probably a lesson in there somewhere!)

It’s easy to pretend. It’s easy for me to just share the highlights of my practice with you guys. The pretty poses, the good balance days, the successes. So here’s a little moment of real life truth for you guys.

It’s easy to pretend that the many, many fails, stumbles, face plants and wobbly days that make up most of my practice, don’t exist.
I usually don’t even get my camera out those days but I still practice. I don’t give up.
Because I love it. And because even when it feels like nothing works or goes according to plan, I appreciate that feedback from my body and I still get all the benefits from breathing, moving and stretching.

Your practice will always ebb and flow – that’s what keeps it interesting. Some days you win, some days you learn.
And no matter what happens on your mat, you will ALWAYS feel better afterwards.

Have you practiced today?
