Reverse Warrior, aka Peaceful Warrior, is a graceful yet strong pose. This pose strengthens the legs and core while opening the chest and side ribs. It’s important to remember to keep the front leg bent as only the upper body bends back (otherwise it becomes a Reverse Triangle). Come and practice your Reverse Warrior with me at my 4:30pm Saturday class @lucentyoga.

It’s a new year which brings fresh perspective. It’s time to try some new things, explore the roads you’ve yet to take, or even go deeper in a yoga pose than you’d imagined possible. But these new choices should be informed from everything you did previously (that perhaps didn’t work out as well), so that they’re not really wild ideas, just better ones. Maybe in 2019 you don’t react so quickly to an upsetting text, or you make sure to show up on time to meet up with friends, or you decide that you’re going to carefully set kapotasana as your year end yoga goal. So set your intentions and then join me at my 4:30pm Saturday class @lucentyoga, and see what unfolds after you meditate on them for 75 minutes. ✨

‘Tis the season for extra cocktails, treats and fun that eventually leave you feeling like garbage. So come twist out your holiday toxins with me @lucentyoga at 4:30pm on Saturday. Then head off to your next eggnog laden affair.

Flexibility is important both in mind and body. Flexibility of the body helps with balance, helps one to achieve full range of motion, and also can help to prevent injury and back pain. A flexible mind helps one go throughout their day with less stress and the ability to learn new things. Yoga brings both into one’s life. So join me @lucentyoga on Saturday at 4:30pm to become more nimble in your life.

Yoga PSA: The holidays are upon us. And while this brings plenty of fun, it also brings plenty of rich food, alcohol and sugar. Should this make your stomach feel less than awesome, rocking back and forth in Bow Pose (aka Dhanurasana) stimulates the digestive system and helps get things running in their proper order. If you want to feel your absolute best though, check out one of my classes this weekend @lucentyoga listed below.

Diver’s Pose is a challenging balance, looking and feeling exactly as the name implies. The core is engaged to help hold the pose, your legs are both stretched and strengthened as they lengthen but engage to stay steady. And the chest is opened as the arms are winged. Join me @lucentyoga on Saturday at 4:30pm and perhaps this pose will fill you with enough joy to dive into your next life adventure, or at least some weekend fun.

The cool weather is here, making our bodies tighten. But since flexibility is key for spine health, prevention of injuries and balance, now is the time to dig into your yoga practice. Because yoga isn’t only for flexible people, it’s for those that want to be more flexible, or even just flexible period. No one comes to the mat perfect, it’s a practice, not a perfection. So join me @lucentyoga on the days and times listed below to open your body and find it’s hidden potential.

Yoga PSA: Cold weather is often synonymous with viruses and the flu. One easy way to stay healthy is Shoulder Stand. Doing this pose for 2 to 3 mins daily (or 2 to 3 times per day if you’re already feeling less than great) is a fabulous way (and scientifically proven) to move lymph throughout the body. The more it moves, the more waste it can pick up in the body, eventually getting to your lymph nodes to filter and dispose of these fats, bacterias, etc and thus giving your immune system a big boost. As someone who spends her day touching sweaty people and riding the NYC Subway, I manage to stay pretty healthy thanks to this secret weapon. 😉
