The cool weather is here, making our bodies tighten. But since flexibility is key for spine health, prevention of injuries and balance, now is the time to dig into your yoga practice. Because yoga isn’t only for flexible people, it’s for those that want to be more flexible, or even just flexible period. No one comes to the mat perfect, it’s a practice, not a perfection. So join me @lucentyoga on the days and times listed below to open your body and find it’s hidden potential.
Yoga PSA: Cold weather is often synonymous with viruses and the flu. One easy way to stay healthy is Shoulder Stand. Doing this pose for 2 to 3 mins daily (or 2 to 3 times per day if you’re already feeling less than great) is a fabulous way (and scientifically proven) to move lymph throughout the body. The more it moves, the more waste it can pick up in the body, eventually getting to your lymph nodes to filter and dispose of these fats, bacterias, etc and thus giving your immune system a big boost. As someone who spends her day touching sweaty people and riding the NYC Subway, I manage to stay pretty healthy thanks to this secret weapon. 😉
The weekend is in reach and I’m ready to wind down the work and amp up the relaxing. Join me then @lucentyoga at the times listed below to release your work week stress and open your body and mind to new fun. See you soon!
Fall is finally here. My favorite season, when the leaves change, the air is crisp and the city is abuzz with excitement and fun. Fall makes me want to move, energize and be present for all of its beauty. Join me this weekend @lucentyoga to do all of the above and the times listen below. ✨🍂
Change is the one constant in life, which sadly doesn’t guarantee that it’s always easy. Right now we’re approaching the change of summer to fall, from hot to cool, from beach vacations to school and work. I love fall but the major energy shift in the city can be intense and sometimes tiring. So, it’s a good time to dig into your yoga practice and listen to what your body may need for fall. We’ll be getting into every nook and cranny of our bodies in my Saturday 4:30pm class @lucentyoga so that we can let out any stress, and meet the upcoming fall strong and open.
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” – Rumi
The practice of yoga can help you find yourself, learn more about you, your body, your limits, and things that you’re capable of that perhaps you didn’t even know were possible. This new personal information can extend beyond your yoga and out into the world so that you can shape your social and emotional life with better understanding. And then in turn, you can make your world a better place for not just you but also those around you. Join me on Thursday at 12:30pm @lucentyoga and see what might be waiting to be discovered inside. ✨
The long week of clouds, humidity and rain has finally ended but left most of us in as bad of a mood as the weather. Luckily for you, I have TONS of hip opening planned for my 4:30pm Saturday class @lucentyoga to help you let go of those rainy day blues. I can’t think of a better way to shake off any lingering bad vibes. See you soon!
Bhujapidasana, aka Shoulder Press Pose, is a fun arm balance that strengthens the arms and wrists, opens the inner thighs and tones the abs. It’s important to remember to engage the core to keep from falling back and to squeeze the shoulders to keep from sliding down. You may find yourself dangling in this pose (and many more) in either of my classes @lucentyoga listed below.
Lately I’ve been loving Dolphin Pose, aka Forearm Downdog. A fabulous stretch for the chest and shoulders while also strengthening them at the same time. For those looking to up their arm balance or inversion game this pose is a must as it helps build forearm muscle and thus fortifies the wrists. And of course, holding this pose, or shifting forward and then back (aka Dolphin Push-ups),helps strengthen the core and stretch the hamstrings. 💫
